The Closet is a blog dedicated to literacy and the teaching of literacy. I have been teaching high school English to junior and senior vocational students since 2002, and I have my MFA in fiction writing from the Northeast Ohio Master of Fine Arts program. I use this blog primarily to reflect upon teaching, to philosophize about curriculum, the age group I teach, and to post lessons and ideas. Because its motto is "valuables and curiosities" don't be surprised to find posts regarding whatever I happen to find valuable or curious at the time, which may include topics as varied as my son and home improvement, strange words, travel, grilling, or the possibility of a zombie outbreak.

Congrats. And it was lovely to see that beautiful boy of yours. Now what? Seriously, you will miss MFA school so much.
I don't know what, really. I feel like my brain chemistry has been altered, but nothing else has really changed.
My goals as an educator really haven't changed much. My resolve as a writer has solidified in a kind of way, though.
I've been trying to prepare for post-MFA blues. If anything Wyatt will keep me busy!
